This review, in Skaggsian sonnet, as inspired by Frankie Petrarca (and John Lennon):
Sonnet 20: Here’s another place you can go, where everything flows
Lest we talk about beers that are brewed with the wheat,
My temp’rament changes from pleasant to grim.
‘Lo, it’s bland! It’s insipid! It’s socks from the gym!’
Existential malaise; to my cave I retreat.
‘Tis oppressive, the air; it’s too moist, plus that heat.
Chicago summer evenings, lo, respite is dim!
(In ‘Glass Onion,’ the Walrus was Paul’s pseudonym)
Yet hark! Yon’s the Hopleaf, inside we retreat!
Sixty taps, it’s not humid! ‘You first!’ ‘Go ahead!’
‘Please sir, I’d love the Hefeweizen from DOVETAIL.’
Then senses alight – ‘Yeast and clove, banana bread,
Orange peel-flavored bubble gum, a gorgeous full-scale
Blend of wheat, yeast, and barley! It’s joinery!’ she said.
Dovetail crafts in North Center, egad! Drink their ale¹!
1 And lager and spontaneously fermented and barrel-aged beers too!
